Why 1950s inspired lingerie makes such perfect bridal lingerie

1950s lingerie wasn’t just designed to be worn, it was crafted by artisans. Brides of the era embraced beautiful fabrics, structured silhouettes and feminine details to create foundations that shaped and supported without compromising on glamour. It’s a world away from throwaway fast fashion, and that’s exactly why it still feels so relevant (and special) and deserves a cherished place in your bridal trousseau.

Modern brides are rediscovering these vintage principles, celebrating their natural shape, using lingerie as a part of the whole look, and choosing slow-made pieces that tell a story.

What we can learn from vintage fashionista brides

The brides of the 1950s weren’t afraid of foundations. They embraced soft structure. They used lingerie to create a gorgeous base and build their entire outfit around it. After all, it was Christian Dior who told us "without foundations, there can be no fashion".

A few things vintage brides they did well (and we still love today):

• Matched sets - soft bras worn with a coordinating suspender for a pulled together look
• Shaping without restriction - longline girdles that smooth gently, without squeezing
• Romantic details -embroidery, floral lace and delicate trims

  • Daisy Set - light, breathable embroidered powernet with a semi sheer finish that looks dreamy under silk and satin. Although be warned, this embroidery has a texture, so not suitable for close fitting light weight dresses.
  • Odette Set - classic romance with floral embroidery and a strong structured cup (ideal for under most vintage-inspired dresses), the ultimate Faux vintage lingerie for true vintage aficionados.
  • White Fleur Set - crisp, clean, and utterly bridal; also available with matching suspender
  • Biscotti Fleur Set - a warmer neutral with just enough vintage charm; incredibly flattering against the skin

We also offer a custom made corselette, suspender belts (perfect for seamed stockings) and our signature longline girdle, ideal for a smooth silhouette under fitted dresses.

How to recreate a vintage bridal lingerie look:

Start with a soft or underwired bra that matches your skin tone or dress

Add a suspender belt or longline girdle to enhance your hourglass silhouette

Choose seamed stockings (preferably 15 denier)

Finish with subtle accessories, satin shoes and vintage hairpins
